Housing around the world
In science this term, we will be studying Materials and Construction. In social studies we study communities in the world. Linking the two, we will look at how climates and customs effect foods, clothing and shelter in different places in the world. Housing gives us a way to see similarities and differences in these varied communities.
What kind of materials are available and meet the needs of the climate and geography of different places in the world?
Why qualities of materials better than other materials for different types of home and parts of homes?
Here are some internet sites I have found about building around the world. Sites specific to the science or social studies portions of this unit can be found on the World Community and the Science link pages.
